You were irresponsible and made a dumb decision, knowing the consequences. What happened to you was not an accident, you were well aware of what you were doing, and chose not to use protection. However, I do believe you did the right thing, and made the best decision for the baby, and yourself.
FIrst of all, I don’t believe abortion is the best option, but my opinion shouldn’t have to affect someone’s future. I think abortion should remain an option for mothers, but shouldn’t be encouraged. Adoption is perfect for families who may not be able to get pregnant for whatever reason. There are people who are eager and willing to care and love for the baby. I understand in cases of rape, that carrying the baby full term may be too traumatic and too hard to emotionally handle. However, in this case both partners gave consent and knew, without using protection, there would be consequences. Adoption and abortion are both emotional and difficult processes, but I personally believe adoption is the better choice.
Secondly, it’s not my opinion that Juno and Bleeker weren’t ready to become parents at sixteen. Keeping the child would have changed their lives drastically. Also, it most likely would impact their future education. Juno might not have been able to graduate on time if she kept the baby. However, this doesn't mean they weren’t perfectly capable of being parents. Many strong young parents are successful because of their determination.
Juno, you made a terrible mistake, but it lead to an incredible miracle for Vanessa. You were very mature and brave to go through with your pregnancy and give up the baby. There’s no excuse for you becoming pregnant considering all the resources. Despite all the odds, I think you made the best decision for baby and your future.
